au milieu des vaches: adventures in renovation in the french countryside

Launched

The sea of red tape has parted and we are, after ten months of bureaucracy and incompetence, the owners of an old farmhouse in the French countryside. It is, therefore, high time to launch this project, which will recount our trials, tribulations and victories (mostly victories, we hope) in building a new house, a new life and a new way of living.

What you see currently is the raw base of a site that will eventually provide a reference point for immigrant English speakers in confronting French bureaucracy, finding skilled artisans, DIY renovation techniques peculiar to French architecture, environmentally sound energy and water management, gardening in local conditions and more, much more. So sit back, relax and let us get to work...
